Euthanasia

Having been in the presence of our own animals as well as our clients, we feel it is important to share that if your animal should choose to die in spite of all your attempts to heal their bodies, it is vital that you be supportive of this choice. This is a choice that animals make, usually on a higher, more expansive level of being. For our own healing and growth, we need to accept these messages from them and honor the love they have given unconditionally providing them with a peaceful departure.

The Animal Soul works together with 2 area veterinarians who specialize solely in end of life care.  Please contact the veterinarian directly to make arrangements for an in home euthanasia. Their information is below.

Dr. Rob Teti DVM, Avantivet.com, is devoted to assisting families as they prepare for the death of their beloved companions. Dr. Teti is also the founder and steward of Chenoa Manor Animal Sanctuary and Youth Assistance Facility in Chester County Pa. He specializes in geriatric medicine with an emphasis on hospice care, quality of life, and in-home euthanasia.

Dr. Lindsey Heller DVM, compassionate crossing, strives to provide your pet with a compassionate and peaceful passing in the comfort of your own home.  She is licensed in Delaware and helps families with end of life care within a 15 mile radius of her home in Middletown, Delaware.

Together we can help you prepare for the process, help you and your family connect with each other and allow the natural wisdom of what’s happening to find a healing path through this difficult time.

In Your home

There are many reasons most families prefer having their pet pass at home. Most importantly your pet is with the people they love in a safe, private and familiar place. It also allows you to create an atmosphere for peaceful passing and gives you the privacy to grieve. Any unnecessary stress and discomfort due to travel is eliminated and other animals in the family have the choice to witness their friend leaving. We encourage all of our clients to take whatever steps are needed to ensure this time is one of dying well. You won’t ever have these last moments again. You can contact the veterinarian directly and make all the arrangements including transportation to the Animal Soul. The fee for in home euthanasia typically ranges between $250-$400, paid directly to the veterinarian.

AT Your Veterinarian's Office

If you choose to go to your veterinarian's office or your pet passes away at an emergency veterinary facility, we can assist you with transportation for cremation. We work with many veterinarians in the area, however if your veterinarian does not exclusively use the Animal Soul and you wish for us to care for your pet, let them know your preference. It is also important to specify if you prefer a private or communal cremation. Ask them to call us and they will care for your pet until we arrive to transport. You will then receive a phone call from us to go over any questions and details you may have regarding cremation. Emergency experiences often times create another layer of distress, anxiety and emotional upset. But if we can move past this for them as responsible care givers, it is one of the most unselfish acts of love we can offer as we say goodbye.
